Auditioning for Commercials w/Casting Director, Angela Mickey

In this monthly workshop, Angela Mickey of Liz Lewis Casting will do a Q&A and talk about some of the fundamentals of commercials, who the main players are, and how auditioning for them is different than auditioning for film, tv, and theater.

Monthly workshops are available to Studio Members at ActorPlaybook, in addition to bi-weekly training and a monthly improv class!

Actors will bring a piece of commercial copy of their choice to present, with Angela offering direction and tips to approaching the copy in different ways and getting comfortable on camera.

Angela Mickey is the most long-term member of the LLCP family. As Managing Director of Casting, Angela works across the board on commercial, voice over, film, TV and theater projects, supporting and guiding our staff to dig deeper and find fresh talent. She enjoys working with veteran and up-and-coming creatives, helping to provide an individual plan to each casting process, as well as assistance with union regulations and talent payment guidelines. Angela has worked on hundreds of on camera and voice over projects, including most recently  AT&T, IHOP,  Dell, Panera, Conde Nast and Palo Alto, as well as Spanish language commercials for VamosPay, Independence Blue Cross,  Garanimals, Volkswagen and Amerihealth New Jersey. Angela has helmed a number of real people searches, including real high profile bartenders for Redemption Whiskey, families who qualify for Comcast’s Internet Essentials, Royal family, Harry Potter, and Rolling Stones fans for London Tourism, and a number of medical real people searches, including for those diagnosed with psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, heart failure, and more. Her recent film projects include the Filipino movie musical The Girl Who Left Home, Hallmark’s One Royal Holiday, A Year and Change and Stalker’s Prey III. Always looking for the new, undiscovered talent, Angela can be found conducting audition classes with actors nationwide. Winner of the 2019 Heller Award for Best Northeast Commercial and VO Casting.
